With lots to do and relatively little time in which to get things done, the members of the Board of AVB have been hard at work during this baseball “off-season”!
- We’ve already met several times
- Added to our Board (names to come)
- Appointed our charter member to the AVB “Advisory Board” (Mark Rhodehamel, Director of Operations for the University of Pittsburgh Women’s Basketball team)
- Met with and discussed many issues with members of the Duquesne University Law Clinic
- Opened links at Facebook and Twitter (under construction)
- Attended the “John Challis Courage for Life” golf outing
- Joined in the “Pitt Basketball Fan Fest” and met with Jamie Dixon (men’s coach) and Agnus Berenato (women’s coach)
- Kevin Giza got ENGAGED to Anne West!
- Been appointed “The official semi-professional baseball team of the Miracle League of Southwestern Pennsylvania”
- Attended the Pittsburgh Pirates’ Minority Business Diversity event at PNC Park, where Board members met with Pirates’ President Frank Coonelly, Outfielder Lastings Milledge, and Pitcher/Closer Matt Capps
- Attended the Rotary Club-sponsored Chuck Tanner Manager of the Year event, where Board members met with former Pirates’ manager Chuck Tanner, Tiger’s manager Jim Leyland, Tiger’s coach and former Pirates’ manager Lloyd McClendon, Tigers outfielder and former player in the Pitt Fed League Don Kelly, and numerous other baseball personalities
- Attended a meeting of teams at the Ross Municipal Building/ John Herb Field
We welcome all VOLUNTEERS! Do whatever you’d like to do. Spend however much time you’d like to volunteer. It’s all up to YOU! We welcome you to “step up to the plate” for your favorite semi-pro baseball team.
