We trust that all of you who follow your hometown Allegheny Valley Baseball (AVB) Club enjoyed your holidays and are getting fired up for AVB’s 2010 season.
The Board of Directors and Coaches of AVB have had a very busy off-season. They attended numerous important baseball-related functions, thereby solidifying vital contacts for the organization and its players as we move ahead with the coming season and future seasons: For example, we are now affiliated with Twitter and Facebook, and we’re the official semi-pro baseball team of the Miracle League of Southwestern Pennsylvania. We’ve also come to an agreement with the charter member of AVB’s Advisory Board: Mark Rhodehamel, the Director of Basketball Operations for the University of Pittsburgh Women’s Basketball team. And we’re still working hard on affiliations with your hometown Pirates and other organizations.
Perhaps most importantly, Head Coach Kevin Giza has announced that “wide-open tryouts” will be held at Etna Veterans Field on Saturday, May 1st, ONLY Rain or Shine (May 2nd for Call Backs). Please note that those who are interested in playing AVB baseball — but who can’t make it to tryouts on either of these dates — MUST contact Head Coach Giza (gm@AVBPA.com ) or Assistant Coach Larry Neidig (coach@AVBPA.com ) to schedule a private workout. At this moment, games are scheduled to begin on Saturday, May 15th.
